1998 Clark Hipp began
a renovation and addition design for the Department
of Cultural Resources of North Carolina at the Brunswicktown
Visitor’s Center. This project included renovation
of the roughly 5,000 sf structure and an addition of
roughly 1,500 sf for new restroom facilities. This project
was completed under a design contract with the State
of North Carolina.
The interior was completely renovated
with new finishes, new mechanical and electrical systems
and a new outdoor covered gathering are was included.
The existing structure was built in 1966 and a significant
amount of time was spent determining the existing conditions
of the facility. This aided in avoidance of unexpected
change orders during construction.
This project was also bid and built
under a multi-prime construction contract. Each separate
contract was managed in our office with considerable
time allotted to communication and coordination.
J. Clark Hipp was also awarded the
design of the Exhibits for Brunswick Town Visitor's
Center. The exhibits will be completed in the winter
of 2003.
