In 1996 HIPP + BEST Architects PC, then named J. CLARK
HIPP Architect PC, was asked to assist in a unique design
problem, design a new 2,000 sf retail structure while
the store remained open during construction. The result
was a distinctive design that incorporated a wide range
of retail display opportunities and exceptional materials.
The interior spaces vault upward to provide areas for
display of birding merchandise and leads to an outdoor
area designed to accommodate bird bathes and feeders
for customer viewing. The unique design solution tripled
the available parking, tripled the retail square footage,
and allowed the owner to remain open for all but five
days during which he transferred merchandise between
the existing and new facilities.
